Corrie Francis
Conversing with AotearoaCorrie Francis is a freelance animator, artist and photographer based in South Lake Tahoe, California was born in Massachusetts and grew up in the Bay Area. She has recently shifted her focus to documentary and is exploring how drawn images can imaginatively compliment documented reality. She continues to push the limits of digital and traditional medium with dialogue between technique and content.
Samantha Moore
Beloved OnesSamantha Moore is an independent film maker who makes animated documentaries. She is currently working on a new film “An Eye Full of Sound” for The Wellcome Trust, about the conditions of synaesthesia due for completion in 2009. Samantha is senior lecturer in animation at the University of Wolverhampton and a member of CADRE. She is based in Shropshire, UK.
Eric Ledune
Do It YourselfEric Ledune was born in Belgium, in 1963. At fifteen he became co-founder with Bruno Deprez of Tache d’Encre ("Sport of Ink"), a fanzine of comic strips. He was trained as a visual artist, graduating from the Higher School of the Visual Arts of Mons. He is a photographer and creator in audio-visual and animation. He is also a teacher in the field of Fine Arts and Film animation.
Emily Bissland
In the Same BoatEmily Bissland’s joy of story-telling threads her films together with a gentle but persistent call for human rights and human kindness. Her first film attracted the Peter Nicholson award for Excellence in Best Concept at its premier screening in Australia and has been noted as a highlight of the Memory Grid exhibit at the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI). She is currently working assisting Animators with intellectual disabilities and developing her next film - an epic animated adventure for children.
Maya Yonesho
Talking About AmyMaya Yonesho first learned animation techniques at the Saga Art College. She studied Animation at the Kyoto City University of Arts. She studied Japanese painting and conceptual & media art and also worked for a children’s TV program as a clay animator. After receiving her M.A. of fine arts, she began making independent films and conducting various animation workshops. She has been a lecturer at several Art Universities since 2000.
Yoriko Murakami
Wiener WuastYoriko Murakami specialized in animation and uses a variety of medium such as clay model, hand drawing and both 2D and 3D computer programs. She recently received her MFA at the University of Southern California. She now works as Art Director in advertising in Tokyo.
Dan Monceaux
A Shift in PerceptionDan Monceaux is the founder of Danimations, an Australian agency that produces a broad range of media. He enjoys seeking out and crafting narratives grounded in reality as much as he does exploring the formal relationship to sound and moving image. Since meeting at art school in 2005, he has formed an unbreakable partnership with Cinematographer and Editor Emma Sterling.
Davina Pardo
Birdlings TwoDavina Pardo has produced and directed several short films, including Birdlings Two and Yesterday in Rwanda, both of which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2004 and 2005. She also produced Cynthia Wade's documentary Freeheld, which won both the Academy Award for Best Short Documentary and the Sundance Special Jury Prize in 2007. She is currently in pre-production for two documentaries, Minka about a Japanese farmhouse and a still untitled project about a Bengali high school student (now living in Brooklyn) who aspires to be a film-maker. In August 2009 she gave birth to her first child.

Marjut Rimminen
Learned By HeartMarjut Rimminen was born in 1944, in Finland. Soon after graduating from the Helsinki Collage of Applied Art 1968 as a graphic designer, she made her first animated commercial Vivante bubble bath. It was awarded as the Best Commercial at the 1972 Zagreb World Animation Festival. The following year Marjut was invited to the UK to join Halas & Batchelor Animation. Since 1974 Marjut has worked independently in London directing and animating commercials for Finland - including several award winners - and producing short films for Channel Four Television. She created a children’s series Urpo & Turpo in partneship with Liisa Helminen for the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation. Her films tour extensively to film festivals, and have been presented in several international retrospectives of her work. Marjut has been a member of many film festival juries, in the UK and overseas. She runs master-classes and workshops all around the world. She is a visiting tutor at the National Film & Television School, the Royal College of Art and the Surrey Institute of Art & Design. She now lives in London.

Gerrit van Dijk
Sold Out, The Last Words of Dutch SchultzGerrit van Dijk was born in 1938 in a pious Catholic family in the village Uden. He studied as a fifteen-year-old boy at the academy in Tilburg. He sees his shift to film as a logical continuation of his work as a painter, and considers his films moving paintings. Van Dijk continually searches for new forms and techniques. There are few two-dimensional techniques that he had not used: cell, cut-out, rotoscoping, pixelation or live action combined with animation. In A Good Turn Daily, Van Dijk choses a form of technique for each scene individually, with an eye to expressing the content of thet scene. His films Pas a Deux, which he made with Monique Renault, and I Move, So I Am he received a Golden Bear at the 1989 and 1998 Berlin Film Festivals. Marie José van der Linden
Sold OutMarie José van der Linden studied audio-visual design at the Academy of Arts in Tilburg where she studied with animator Gerrit van Dijk. After graduating she collaborated on several animation films with van Dijk. Recently she wrote and illustrated three books about her family and life in the village where she was born. With these books van der Linden continues to how memories become combined with fantasy. She is currently working on an animation based on a fairy tale.
Jeanne Paturle
One Voice, One VoteJeanne Paturle specializes in animation with the ENSAD. She realized LES YEUX FERMÉS (selected with the International Festival of Clermont-Ferrand in 2005) and meet Cécile Rousset, with whom she directed ONE VOICE ONE VOTE (Je suis une voix). She holds a master degree in visual and media arts from University from Quebec in Montreal.
Cécile Rousset
One Voice, One VoteCécile Rousset integrates the ENSAD (National Higher School of Decorative Arts of Paris) in 1999. She specializes in the cinema of animation. Its first film PAUL (selected with the International Festival of Clermont-Ferrand in 2005 and 40 other festivals, diffused on ARTE, 5 prices) was directed during its last year of studies with the ENSAD. This first film was also produced by Les Films Sauvages.
